LOS ANGELES — UCLA Extension has honored 16 instructors for excellence in teaching and service to the division of continuing education at UCLA at a ceremony on May 10th at the UCLA Meyer and Renee Luskin Conference Center.
The Distinguished Instructor Awards serve as a testament to the dedication and expertise of the nominated UCLA Extension instructors. These individuals cultivate an invigorating and inclusive learning environment for adult learners in pursuit of academic and professional growth.
“Our Distinguished Instructors empower our students to thrive. The honorees are master instructors committed to student success,” said Eric A. Bullard, Dean of Continuing Education and UCLA Extension. “They have a passion to share their knowledge and practical experience with the next generation of leaders. The outstanding sixteen instructors have made a difference in the lives of our students by shaping their professional trajectory and helping them fulfill their dreams.”
The Distinguished Instructors for 2022 are: Hakon Engvig (Visual Arts), Mamum Hashem (Architecture & Interior Design), Cynthia Hsuing (Writers’ Program), Jeanette Milio (Entertainment Studies), Jim Smith (Landscape Architecture), Donald Burnell (Human Resources Management), Kurt Hull (Accounting and Finance), Victor Schulte (Legal Programs), Karen Grace-Baker (College Counseling), Marisela Limón Recendez (Teacher Education), Keith Jefferies (Digital Technology), Lori Jones (Technical Management) Rishab Gupta (Health Sciences), Myrna Hant (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute), Misha Kouzeh (Sustainability), and Julie Norminton (American Language Center).
A range of professions are covered by this year’s honorees – a nationally recognized textbook author, Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Director (retired), a feature film and television producer, scientist and scholar, TEDx speaker, and experts in human resources management, litigation, digital technology and technical management.
