Gold Medal winning Special Olympian Heidi Sand was sworn in as an honorary police officer on Tuesday. The honor surprised Sand, a longtime Oceanside resident, who two months ago brought home a Gold Medal in tennis from the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin.

Bloomberg reported Friday that the app being developed by Instagram, a social media platform owned by parent company Meta Platforms, will be text-based and compete with Twitter. The earliest its rollout could happen is around the end of June, the outlet reported, citing UCLA Extension Social Media and Influencer Marketing Instructor Lia Haberman.

But her calling still hadn’t sunk in just yet. After graduating, Adams took a day job at Apple that left her feeling creatively unfulfilled, so she decided to pursue a masters degree in interior architecture offered collaboratively between UCLA Extension and California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. The education led to a full-time gig with designer Michael Smith.

I actually do love science. I recently took a physics class just for fun, at UCLA Extension, just because I was out of work. But I’m not a brilliant scientist by any means. I’m not creating a quantum portal into another realm or anything… but I think I could. So just give me time. Maybe take a different class. I don’t know which one. Maybe there’s like a quantum physics class.
